Air India (AI, Delhi International) has now taken delivery of the first of 27 B787-8s VT-ANH (MSN 36276) on September 7 after long arguments between the Government of India, Air India and Boeing (BOE, Washington National) over compensation payments for the delivery delays of the aircraft with Air India's demands and the lack of an agreement led to an even longer delay as several completed aircraft were not taken up. It has become the fifth operator of the type after ANA - All Nippon Airways (NH, Tokyo Haneda), JAL - Japan Airlines (JL, Tokyo Haneda), Ethiopian Airlines (ET, Addis Ababa International) and LAN Airlines (Santiago de Chile).
