China Flying Dragon General Aviation (CFA, Zhengzhou) has taken delivery of its first C909 in medevac configuration, which is also its first jet aircraft. B-3328 (msn 111) was ferried to Zhengzhou on September 7, ahead of its formal delivery two days later.
The aircraft is the first C909 configured for medical transport to enter into service. Chengdu Airlines (EU, Chengdu Shuangliu) initially operated the jet in a standard passenger configuration from 2018 until it was withdrawn in 2021. At that time, the airline had returned nine C909s, including B-3328, to COMAC for a freighter conversion programme.
Civil Aviation Authority of China data reveals that ICBC Financial Leasing owned the aircraft from 2019. The lessor sold the aircraft by August 15, 2025.
COMAC said that its new operator will use the C909 to develop a nationwide aviation medical rescue network and expand air medical services along the Belt and Road initiative countries.
"The delivery of the C909 medical rescue aircraft will provide a new option for improving the domestic air medical support system and enhancing emergency response capabilities," the manufacturer said.
On September 9, COMAC also established the C9 Wings of Life Aviation Medical Alliance, comprising more than 40 organisations from the aviation and healthcare sectors. The alliance aims to unify resources and "build a multi-agent collaborative platform for fixed-wing aviation medical care." COMAC plans to promote the C909 among aviation medical services.
