Turkish Airlines (TK, Istanbul Airport) has ordered 100 B737-8s and secured options for fifty more B737 MAX jets directly from Boeing, the US manufacturer announced in a press release. Deliveries are to take place between 2033 and 2037, said the carrier in a notice to the Istanbul Stock Exchange.

The agreement concluded negotiations initiated in 2025 between the Türkiye and US governments, and it has now become Turkish Airlines’ largest Boeing single-aisle order. Murat Şeker, Turkish Airlines chairman of the board and the executive committee, said that “the new Boeing 737 MAX aircraft will bring greater efficiency and flexibility to our operations, supporting the extensive network we serve from our hub in Istanbul.” The deal includes substitution rights for the B737-10 type.

The order also builds on Turkish’s 2025 order for up to seventy-five B787s. The carrier currently operates forty-two B737-8s and five B737-9s among its nearly 500-strong in-house fleet. Subsidiary AJet (Türkiye) (VF, Istanbul Sabiha Gökcen) also operates thirty-one in-house B737-8s. SunExpress, of which Turkish Airlines owns 50%, also has twenty-eight B737-8s, ch-aviation fleet data shows.

It was not immediately disclosed if all 100 aircraft from the firm order will go exclusively to Turkish Airlines, or if the company will allocate some units to its subsidiaries. ch-aviation has reached out to Turkish for comment. It was not immediately available.
