Wizz Air (W6, Budapest) has welcomed a decision made by Serbian authorities to postpone the implementation of revised rules authorising foreign airlines in the country, with the low-cost carrier confirming that it will maintain its Belgrade Nikola Tesla base for the upcoming 2026/2027 winter season. The Serbian government gazette 93/2026, published on September 28, includes a provision delaying the implementation of the controversial amendments until March 28, 2027.

In June 2026, Wizz Air warned that the new regulations were discriminatory and could force the closure of its Belgrade base, setting a late-September deadline for its final decision. Wizz Air currently stations four A321-200NX aircraft at the base, which it has operated since 2010.
