Venezolana (WW, Maracaibo) has been acquired outright from William Posada by a group of local Venezuelan investors headed by former Avior Airlines (9V, Barcelona José Antonio Anzoategui) executive, Erwin Genie. Following a suspension of operations earlier this year owing to lack of insurance premiums, RAVSA resumed domestic flights on Friday last week between Maracaibo and Caracas Simón Bolivar, Porlamar and regionally to Santo Domingo Las Américas.

Services to Aruba will resume on March 28 with Panamá City Tocumen International to follow on April 2.

The carrier's new owners have also inherited RAVSA's fleet of eight aircraft of which only its MD-82, YV514T (msn 49511), and two B737-200Advs are said to be airworthy.
