Air New Zealand (NZ, Auckland International) expects all its grounded B787-9 jets to return to service by late June 2026, followed by all Airbus aircraft by 2027. Until then, the airline expects to continue to leasing additional aircraft and engines, and will bear the associated costs. However, it expects stronger operational flexibility once its in-house aircraft resume flying.
ch-aviation data shows that three of fourteen A321-200NX jets, as well as four of fourteen B787-9s are currently inactive, although some of the latter are under a cabin refurbishment programme unrelated to the issues with Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 engines.
