Airlines cancel China and other flights due to Coronavirus

Airlines from across the globe are cancelling their respective flights to China in light of the coronavirus outbreak. To date, the virus has caused more than 259 deaths, spreading across China and to at least 24 other countries according to a Reuters report as of February 1.

Given the magnitude of network changes related to flights to/from China, this article is no longer updated. All further adjustments will be reported via Route Network Updates, available for ch-aviation schedules subscribers, and can be accessed via the following links: for mainland China, for Hong Kong, for Macao, and for Taiwan.

All flights from/to Wuhan remain suspended due to the Chinese government imposed a quarantine on the city on January 23.

Below is an updated list of route suspensions by geographical region and in order of capacity provided by carrier group from these origin markets, ch-aviation will regularly update the list:

Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan:

all carriers are not currently allowed to operate from/to Italy due to an ENAV ban on flights.
Cathay Dragon (Hong Kong International) and Cathay Pacific (CX, Hong Kong International): plan to cut about 90% of its flights into mainland China until the end of March, the total impact across the airlines' networks will be a reduction in capacity of about 30%
Air Macau (NX, Macau International): has cancelled select flights to mainland China until February 9
Hong Kong Airlines (HX, Hong Kong International): has cancelled select flights to mainland China until February 11
China Airlines (CI, Taipei Taoyuan), Mandarin Airlines (AE, Taichung Ching Chuan Kang), and Tigerair Taiwan (IT, Taipei Taoyuan): have cancelled select flights to mainland China and Macau until February 20
EVA Air (BR, Taipei Taoyuan) and Uni Air (B7, Taipei Sung Shan): have cancelled select flights to mainland China until February 16; delayed the launch of Milan Malpensa route from February 18 to April 30 due to a ban on flying to Italy
Hong Kong Express (Hong Kong International): has reduced frequency of its daily service to Ningbo down to 2x weekly between February 11 and March 28
Starlux Airlines (JX, Taipei Taoyuan): will suspend flights to Macau International as of February 8

South Korea and North Korea:

Korean Air (KE, Seoul Incheon): has cancelled selected flights and reduced frequencies on other routes until February 22
Asiana Airlines (OZ, Seoul Incheon): has cancelled selected flights until February 13 or March 28 respectively
Jeju Air (7C, Jeju): has cancelled six of its routes until March 1
Air Busan (BX, Busan): has cancelled six of its routes until March 1
t'way Air (TW, Daegu): has cancelled all seven routes until the end of March, as well as services from Incheon to Macau International (until the end of March) and from Daegu to Taipei Taoyuan (until March 3) as of February 10
Eastar Jet (ZE, Seoul Gimpo): has cancelled 10 of its routes until March 1 (Cheongju to Zhangjiajie Hehua, Haikou, and Yanji, Seoul Incheon to Shanghai Pudong, Macau International, Hong Kong, Zhengzhou and Yantai Penglai International, Jeju to Shanghai and Macau)
Jin Air (LJ, Jeju): no route suspensions so far
Air Seoul (RS, Seoul Incheon): has suspended its only two routes from Incheon to Zhangjiajie Hehua and Linyi until further notice as of January 28
Air Koryo (JS, Pyongyang): no route suspensions so far

Japan:

ANA - All Nippon Airways (NH, Tokyo Haneda): Tokyo Narita-Wuhan and Narita-Beijing Capital routes suspended until March 28, Tokyo Haneda-Beijing Capital reduced from 2x daily to daily, Narita, Osaka Kansai and Haneda-Pudong capacity reductions and suspensions from February 10 until end of March, capacity reductions and suspensions on services to Qingdao, Dalian, Hangzhou, Xiamen, Shenyang, Chengdu and Guangzhou, Kansai-Hong Kong suspended from February 17 until March 28
JAL - Japan Airlines (JL, Tokyo Haneda): no route suspensions so far
Spring (IJ, Tokyo Narita): only Tokyo Narita-Wuhan route suspended
Peach Aviation (MM, Osaka Kansai): no route suspensions so far
Jetstar Japan (GK, Tokyo Narita): only Jeju-Xi'an Xianyang route suspended so far

ASEAN:

Scoot (TR, Singapore Changi): has reduced frequencies to mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macau until February 7 and suspended all flights to mainland China between February 8 and March 28, Singapore has introduced entry restrictions for passengers from China starting February 1

Singapore Airlines (SQ, Singapore Changi) and SilkAir (SLK, Singapore Changi): has cancelled select flights to mainland China between February 4 and March 1, Singapore has introduced entry restrictions for passengers from China starting February 1
Nok Air (DD, Bangkok Don Mueang): has cancelled all flights to mainland China except one rotation from Bangkok Don Muang to Changsha Huanghua on February 1, but has not announced suspensions officially
Lion Air (JT, Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta) and Batik Air (ID, Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta): have announced the suspension of all flights to mainland China starting February 1 until further notice
Lanmei Airlines (LQ, Phnom Penh): no route suspensions so far
Philippine Airlines (PR, Manila Ninoy Aquino International) and PAL Express (2P, Manila Ninoy Aquino International): continue scheduled flights but have reduced frequencies by 50%, have cancelled charter flights out of Kalibo due to outbound tourist travel restrictions out of China
Cebu Pacific Air (5J, Manila Ninoy Aquino International): has suspended all flights from February 2 to March 29
Malaysia Airlines (MH, Kuala Lumpur International): no route suspensions so far
Sky Angkor Airlines (ZA, Phnom Penh): has not flown to China since January 29, 2020, and ch-aviation understands that further flights are suspended
JC International Airlines (JCC, Phnom Penh): has not flown to China since February 5, 2020
Malindo Air (Kuala Lumpur International): has suspended Kuala Lumpur-Wuhan from January 24 until further notice and Kota Kinabalu-Tianjin from February 1 to 29 as well as Johor Bahru-Guangzhou from February 11 to 29
Garuda Indonesia (GA, Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta): no route suspensions so far

Philippines AirAsia (Z2, Manila Ninoy Aquino International): has cancelled its flights to mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau until March 1

MAI - Myanmar Airways International (8M, Yangon): has suspended all flights from February 1 to 29

Thai Smile (Bangkok Suvarnabhumi): has suspended all flights from February 1 to March 28
Jetstar Asia Airways (3K, Singapore Changi): has suspended all flights from February 7 to March 29
Royal Brunei Airlines (BI, Bandar Seri Begawan): continues to operate four weekly flights to Beijing Daxing until February 10, has already suspended all other flights until February 29
Cambodia Airways (KR, Phnom Penh): is cancelling select flights to Macau International and mainland China
Citilink (QG, Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta): is flying back tourists from Indonesia to China and will then suspend operations until further notice
Bangkok Airways (PG, Bangkok Suvarnabhumi): no route suspensions so far
Myanmar National Airlines (UB, Yangon): no route suspensions so far

North America:

United Airlines (UA, Chicago O'Hare): will suspend all flights to mainland China from February 6 to March 28, flights to Hong KOng suspended between February 8 and 20
Air Canada (AC, Montréal Trudeau): has suspended all flights from January 30 to February 29
Delta Air Lines (DL, Atlanta Hartsfield Jackson): has suspended all flights from February 2 to April 30
American Airlines (AA, Dallas/Fort Worth): has suspended all flights from January 31 to March 27, its flights from Dallas/Fort Worth to Hong Kong are suspended until February 20, and from Los Angeles International to Hong Kong until March 27

Middle East:

Emirates (EK, Dubai International): has suspended flights to Guangzhou and Shanghai but continues to serve Beijing, has asked passengers from Beijing to show up to the airport eight hours prior to the departure
Qatar Airways (QR, Doha Hamad International): all flights to mainland China will be suspended from February 3 until further notice
Etihad Airways (EY, Abu Dhabi International): no route suspensions so far out of Abu Dhabi, but temporarily not operating its Beijing Capital-Nagoya Chubu fifth freedom service
Mahan Air (W5, Tehran Mehrabad): no route suspensions so far
Saudia (SV, Jeddah International): no route suspensions so far
Oman Air (WY, Muscat): no route suspensions so far
El Al Israel Airlines (LY, Tel Aviv Ben Gurion): has suspended its Tel Aviv Ben Gurion-Beijing Capital flights until March 25

Lufthansa (LH, Frankfurt International), Swiss (LX, Zurich), and Austrian Airlines (OS, Vienna): have suspended all flights to mainland China until February 29
KLM Royal Dutch Airlines (KL, Amsterdam Schiphol) and Air France (AF, Paris CDG): has suspended all flights to mainland China from February 3 to February 9 and Paris CDG-Wuhan until February 29
Finnair (AY, Helsinki Vantaa): has suspended its Helsinki to Beijing Capital and Shanghai Pudong routes from February 6 to 29 and its routes to Guangzhou, Beijing Daxing International, and Nanjing from February 6 to March 29
British Airways (BA, London Heathrow): has suspended all flights to mainland China until February 29
SAS Scandinavian Airlines (SK, Copenhagen Kastrup): has suspended flights until February 29
Iberia (IB, Madrid Barajas): has suspended flights from January 31 until March 1
LOT Polish Airlines (LO, Warsaw Chopin): has suspended flights between January 31 and February 9
Virgin Atlantic (VS, London Heathrow): has suspended flights between February 2 and February 16
Neos Air (NO, Milan Malpensa): has suspended all flights until April 28 following a ban by Italian air navigation services provider ENAV on flights to China, Macau, Hong Kong, and Taiwan
The Czech government has banned all direct flights from China from February 9 for the foreseeable future

CIS countries:

The Russian Federal Air Transport Agency bans all charter flights from Russia to China from February 14
Aeroflot (SU, Moscow Sheremetyevo) and Aurora (HZ, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk): has suspended all flights to Mainland China from February 1 with the exception of daily flights from Sheremetyevo to Beijing Capital, Shanghai Pudong, and Guangzhou
S7 Airlines (S7, Novosibirsk): all scheduled flights cancelled as of February 1, charter flights continue to be operated for repatriation of passengers in both directions
Ural Airlines (U6, Ekaterinburg): has suspended its routes from Ekaterinburg and Tyumen Roschino to Haikou effective January 27 as well as from Ekaterinburg to Munich, Paris CDG, Rome Fiumicino, Xi'an Xianyang, and Ordos Ejin Horo as well as from Vladivostok to Sapporo Chitose starting January 31 citing missing Chinese connecting passengers as the reason for cancelling other international routes; additionally suspended flights from Ekaterinburg and Vladivostok to Beijing, from Ekaterinburg to Harbin (including via Kazan International), from Vladivostok to Harbin; from Moscow Domodedovo via Ekaterinburg and Dongsheng to Bangkok, from Ekaterinburg via Xi'an to Phuket, and from Moscow via Novosibirsk to Harbin

Royal Air Maroc (AT, Casablanca Mohamed V): has suspended its Casablanca-Beijing Daxing route from January 31 until February 29
RwandAir (WB, Kigali): has suspended its Mumbai International-Guangzhou flights until further notice

IndiGo Airlines (6E, Delhi International): has suspended its Delhi International-Chengdu Shuangliu route from February 1 to February 20, continues to operate Kolkata-Guangzhou
